About the Role As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) , you will assist individuals with special needs, helping them develop essential skills while living in a supportive, family-like environment. Your role will be vital in promoting independence, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining a safe and nurturing atmosphere. Responsibilities Provide direct support by following individualized support plans (ISPs). Assist individuals in managing personal challenges and interpersonal relationships. Support daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks. Administer and document medications as required, in accordance with training and regulations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, medication records, medical/dental appointments, behavior data, and financial transactions (petty cash). Foster and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and relevant stakeholders, including state and county officials. Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive living environment.
Requirements Education :
High school diploma or GED required.
Age :
Must be at least 21 years old.
Experience :
Prior experience in a residential setting and administering medications preferred; willing to train the right candidate.
Medication Administration Certification :
Must either (a) hold a current PA Medication Administration certification, or (b) successfully obtain it during the onboarding process as a condition of continued employment.
Flexibility :
Must be available to work weekends and accommodate a flexible schedule.
Medical Clearance :
Must have a current physical exam and tuberculosis (PPD) test.
Transportation :
Ability to travel within Montgomery County and Delaware County as needed. Skills & Attributes Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professionalism and a positive attitude at all times. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting individuals with special needs. Physical Demands Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. Physical ability to assist individuals with personal care and daily activities. Capability to perform household cleaning tasks, including standing, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and walking.
