This is a specialized IDD/Autism position. Applicants must have at least 1 year of direct caregiving or direct care experience. Experience working specifically with individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or autism is strongly preferred. DSP / IDD
Specialist, you will work one-on-one with an individual according to their Individual Support Plan (ISP) and specific needs.
Responsibilities may include:
Assisting with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, incontinence care, and other personal care Assisting with mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation, including use of equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, or Hoyer lifts when required by the individual's care plan Preparing meals and assisting with eating or feeding when needed Providing companionship, supervision, encouragement, and meaningful interaction Helping individuals develop and maintain daily living and independence skills Supporting goals identified in the individual's Individual Support Plan (ISP) Helping individuals participate in community, recreational, social, and other approved activities Providing or assisting with transportation to approved appointments, activities, shopping, or errands when required by the assignment Supporting positive behavior plans and using person-centered, positive approaches Promoting the individual's independence, dignity, privacy, rights, choices, and preferences Providing light housekeeping related to the individual's care, including laundry, changing linens, and cleaning areas used by the individual Observing and reporting changes, concerns, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor Completing accurate documentation of services provided and progress toward ISP goals Following all TLC Nursing Service and Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) policies and requirements Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Minimum of 1 year of caregiving/direct care experience is required Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism is strongly preferred Must be dependable, patient, compassionate, and comfortable working one-on-one with individuals who may require significant assistance or supervision Must be able to follow an Individual Support Plan (ISP), care instructions, and agency procedures Must be able to communicate effectively and accurately document services provided (in English) Must be physically capable of performing the duties required by the specific assignment, which may include bending, stooping, assisting with transfers, positioning, ambulation, and lifting Must have reliable transportation to and from assignments Must successfully complete TLC Nursing Service's hiring, competency, orientation, and training requirements Clearances & Credentials Applicants must obtain and maintain all required credentials and clearances, which may include: Pennsylvania Criminal History Clearance Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance FBI Criminal History Clearance, when applicable Current physical examination Current TB testing CPR certification Any additional clearances or training required for the assignment ODP Training Because this position serves individuals receiving services through Pennsylvania's Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), employees must complete required ODP training and orientation. Employees must also complete ongoing annual training as required by ODP. Medication administration may only be performed by employees who have successfully completed the required ODP Medication Administration Program certification and are authorized to administer medications for the assignment.
