Direct Support Professional

Part-time position, between 4

• 15 hours per week depending on availability, assisting adult male traumatic brain injury survivor with:
• transportation to appointments,
• coaching on behavior skills,
• social activities,
• hobbies,
• life skills coaching, and
• help finding and retaining a job and career.

Must have clean BCI and Driver's license/car for transportation. Previous experience with people with special needs and behavioral challenges strongly required, TBI specifically a strong plus. Must be able to take initiative and engage in different activities of interest, and suggest new activities. Must be able to set clear boundaries. Interest in nature, physical fitness, music, bowling, gemstones, swimming, exploring interesting places and ideas/activities a plus. Ability to connect and redirect as necessary, focus on cognitive and organizational skills, and encouraging our survivor to work on independence skills is most important as he moves toward living independently. Position is flexible to include choice of Tuesdays during the day and/or evening (every other week) Wednesday afternoons, and Sunday during the day. Also varied evenings to bring to events like Monday evening chess club, Wednesday evening monthly gem and mineral club, Bocce or bowling opportunities and live music, tai chi or group classes as they come up.
