Job Description

Position Overview Ability Beyond Barriers is seeking compassionate, dependable individuals to serve as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in our Supervised Living Program I (SLPI) and Independent Living Services (ILS) . DSPs play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live as independently and meaningfully as possible within their communities. This position focuses on person-centered support, skill building, and community integration while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Direct Care & Support Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) , including personal care, hygiene, and meal preparation (as needed) Provide supervision and guidance based on each individual s level of independence Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all individuals served Skill Development & Independence Support individuals in building independent living skills , including: Budgeting and money management Cooking and household maintenance Personal organization and time management Implement individualized service plans and goals Community Integration Encourage participation in community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities Assist with transportation to appointments, work, and community outings as required Documentation & Compliance Complete accurate and timely documentation of services provided Follow all agency policies, HIPAA guidelines, and state regulations Report any incidents, concerns, or significant changes promptly Collaboration Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families Participate in required trainings and meetings Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Valid driver s license and reliable transportation Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required training Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Knowledge of person-centered planning and community-based services CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25-50 lbs as needed Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations Why Join Ability Beyond Barriers?
