Job Description

Description Direct Support Professional II We are seeking an experienced and dependable Direct Support Professional II (DSP 2) to provide advanced, hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including those with higher medical and behavioral needs. In this role, you will deliver high-quality direct care, apply enhanced support strategies, and serve as a mentor to other staff while helping ensure safe, stable, and person-centered services. Key Responsibilities:
Perform all standard DSP duties, including assisting with daily living activities (ADLs), community participation, transportation, and documentation Provide advanced support for individuals with higher medical needs, including complex medication routines and specialized care (as permitted by training and policy) Implement behavior support plans and respond to escalations using approved de-escalation techniques Serve as a mentor and resource to DSP staff by modeling best practices and supporting on-the-job coaching Identify and report health, safety, and behavioral concerns promptly to leadership Participate in team collaboration and contribute observations to support care plan updates Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and incidents
Requirements What You'll Need:
Meets all Direct Support Professional (DSP 1) requirements Experience supporting individuals with higher-acuity medical and/or behavioral needs Required certifications for advanced care (based on state and program requirements) Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or crisis situations
