Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Active CNA certification in Texas or eligibility to transfer certification to Texas. Active CPR certification or obtained within ten (10) days of hire Valid Texas driver's license and related insurance Knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs): Strong ability to interpret, adhere to, and ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and the client's direct care plan Excellent ability to maintain safety principles and practices relating to providing care to clients with intellectual disabilities Excellent ability to provide compassionate personal care for individuals with intellectual disabilities daily, including but not limited to housekeeping and meal preparation Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to maintain confidentiality Excellent customer service and adaptability skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Six (6) months of experience in a residential care setting with individuals with intellectual disabilities
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending forward, reaching, lifting above shoulder level, below chest level, and/or chest-to-shoulder level, elbow extension, wrist extension and rotation, twisting and tilting of the neck, and also occasional squatting and kneeling. Utilization of fine motor skills to operate vehicles and household appliances Ability to lift 50 lbs to assist with clients' personal care needs. Sensory demands include hearing, speech, color vision, near vision, spatial perception, tactile, and smell.
Working Conditions:
The working conditions for this position include working in a climate-controlled office and/or residential environment with minimal safety hazards and travel between company locations, including residences and various locations for client needs, and in different weather conditions. This position requires the ability to care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, follow policies/procedures, multitask, and perform complex/varied/simple/repetitive tasks with precise attention to detail. Must be able to prepare meals, complete housework, ensure client's personal care needs are met, control the work pace, follow instructions, influence people, handle confrontational situations, and work alone or in a group. The position involves working with confidential client information. It may require irregular hours and travel to other locations for client needs, with noise exposure, moving objects, slippery surfaces, congested areas, sharp objects, and hot surfaces such as ovens and stovetops; tobacco-free environment. Essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following key areas: Provide clients with assistance in performing daily tasks, including but not limited to general housekeeping and meal preparation. Assist clients with daily personal care needs, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Assist in compliant administration and documentation of medications in accordance with the client's individualized plan of care Monitor the health, comfort, and safety of clients served while ensuring that the medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are being met, including monitoring and recording vital signs and reporting any changes to the nursing staff. Provide positive daily interaction with clients by ensuring care is provided in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner while utilizing effective and compliant techniques for reinforcing appropriate individual behavior. Maintain health, social, and individualized program files by documenting client progress and other required information. Attend and participate in team meetings and provide effective communication regarding each client's progress with care team members, including but not limited to supervisors, parents, and/or guardians. Provide safe, compliant, and compassionate behavioral intervention according to each client's behavior management program. Assist in safely transporting clients for various activities, including but not limited to attending health appointments and attending scheduled events in accordance with their individualized plan of care, as assigned. Assisting with additional tasks as assigned by the RN or the Spectrum of Solutions Leadership team. Other duties as assigned
