Weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Adult Male We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for an adult male with developmental disabilities. This is a weekend position , with 10-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM . Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, supporting community participation, implementing the individual's ISP goals, ensuring health and safety, and promoting independence while providing person-centered care. Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient behavior, and reporting any changes or concerns promptly. Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained. Support clients during outings and community activities to promote social engagement and independence. Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, incident reports, and progress notes in accordance with agency policies. Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare professionals to meet each client's unique needs. Ensure a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in residents' living spaces and common areas. Respond effectively to emergencies with CPR or first aid when necessary, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved. Collaborate with team members, families, and healthcare providers to deliver consistent, high-quality support aligned with best practices in assisted living, nursing home care, or home & community care settings. Skills Proven experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices. Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and team members. Demonstrated patience and compassion when working with individuals requiring specialized care or behavioral support. Experience in medication administration, care planning, and documentation within long-term or home health settings is highly desirable. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends or overnight shifts as needed to provide consistent support.
