Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) specializing in community engagement! In this vital role, you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other disabilities to participate actively in their communities. Your enthusiasm and compassion will help foster independence, social connections, and a sense of belonging. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while developing your skills in caregiving, behavior management, and community integration. Responsibilities Provide personalized support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, encouraging participation in community activities such as outings, events, and recreational programs. Assist with daily living activities (ADLs), including grooming, meal preparation, transportation, and medication administration when necessary. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and social skills development. Facilitate effective communication using verbal skills or American Sign Language as needed to ensure understanding and engagement. Collect data on progress and activities to monitor individual goals and support planning efforts. Drive clients safely to appointments, community events, or recreational outings using company vehicles. Support families and caregivers by providing updates, guidance, and assistance with childcare or home-based care routines. Qualifications Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals of diverse abilities and backgrounds. Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in home or community settings. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience driving clients preferred. Familiarity with data collection methods related to social work or behavioral health is a plus. Certification or experience in medication administration is advantageous but not required; training provided if necessary. $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
