10am - 6pm Sr. Direct Support Professional/Joy Giver CLA provides supports, services and joy to 45 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Group Homes, Individual Apartments and out in the community. Together we work with individuals to build relationships that transcend any work relationship you have ever had. Yes, we keep them safe and help them acquire skills but our real job is helping them find their joy and in that task, we find our own joy as well.

The ability to communicate verbally and in writing about the joyful (and safe) activities that were had. The ability to support adults in finding, engaging, and advocating for joy as much on their own as possible. SUMMARY Working a flexible schedule, role models and provides hands on training to DSP staff around providing supports. Assists with scheduling and provides shift coverage in the event of staffing shortages or for special events including medical appointments, weather emergencies, or activities. Serves as the senior staff person in the absence of a Home Manager, ensuring the health and safety of all individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. All persons in this position must be capable of performing these functions, in adherence to all CLA policies and procedures. Assists Home Manager in preparing and updating the staff schedule in a manner that best meets the needs of the individuals and the home, while minimizing overtime. Works open shifts when necessary. Ensures that grocery shopping is done in a manner that maximizes individual's participation in meal planning and skill building to the extent possible. Ensures a shopping list is comprehensive to the week's menu and within budget. Works side by side DSP's to provide guidance and training on ISPs, Documentation, and other work elements that will improve overall quality of the program. Monitors Therap weekly for any issues in documentation and brings the to the attention of the Home Manager. Provides input for the development of the annual Individual Service Plan (ISP) for each individual supported, writing, typing or proof-reading documents as needed. Implements the particular requirements of the ISP on a daily basis. Maintains all required documentation in Therap, logs and records, including monthly and quarterly reports. Ensures that individuals supported have personal choices in all aspects of their daily life, and that the individuals are empowered to pursue their choices. Provides for the safety of the individuals supported by monitoring at all times per individual plan, and for the security of the home and by ensuring the home is clean and free from hazards, including removal of fallen tree limbs, leaves, snow, ice, objects on stairs, electrical cords, spills or other conditions that may present safety issues. Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional relationships other CLA staff , with the families or guardians of the individuals supported, and appropriate interested outside parties. Manages and documents emergency situations and notifies appropriate staff. Schedules, implements, and follows-up on medical and dental appointments/referrals, as required. Provides training, assists and supports the individuals supported in all activities of daily living (ADLs) according to their specific support needs. These areas will include hygiene, wellness matters, housekeeping, communications, socialization, appropriate use of leisure time, shopping and money management, use of community resources, and other activities of daily living, as necessary. Assist, support, oversee, model and/or train individuals on personal care issues including bathing, toileting, ostomy care, catheters, diabetes monitoring, and other related functions. Reports need for painting and building or equipment repair of the home to the Administrative Office in accordance with established procedures. Requisitions needed materials such as office supplies, stamps, latex gloves, etc., in accordance with established procedures. Transports in own vehicle, as necessary, the individual supported to and from medical and dental appointments and treatments, shopping trips, recreational events, volunteer sites, community events, and scheduled classes. Implements and documents the criteria of behavioral support plans for individuals supported, and participates in the development of such plans. Encourages individuals supported to participate in social, educational, and recreational activities. Assists in maintaining an activities calendar. Attends relevant and scheduled staff meetings. Performs other duties as directed.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities .
