JOB SUMMARY

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and support to residents in an ASAM Level 3.1 low-intensity residential treatment program. The DSP is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive living environment while assisting residents in developing recovery-oriented skills, daily living skills, and personal responsibility. This position works collaboratively with clinical and case management staff to support residents' treatment goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide consistent, recovery-oriented support to residents in a residential setting
• Encourage and reinforce participation in treatment services, recovery activities, and program expectations
• Support residents in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, and healthy routines
• Model appropriate behavior and maintain professional boundaries at all times
• Provide 24-hour supervision of residents during assigned shifts
• Conduct routine safety checks, room checks, and head counts in accordance with program policy
• Monitor resident behavior and report concerns, rule violations, or safety risks to supervisory or clinical staff
• Assist residents with adherence to daily schedules, house rules, and responsibilities
• Support residents in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and shared living standards
• Assist with meal times, recreational activities, and structured program events
• Complete accurate and timely documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and shift notes
• Communicate relevant resident information to supervisors, counselors, and case managers
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and program policies
• Transport residents to appointments, meetings, employment, or program-related activities
• Supervise residents during off-site activities and ensure compliance with program expectations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring challenges
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observation skills
• Ability to maintain structure, consistency, and appropriate boundaries
• Basic crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to pass a background check
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physically able to perform job duties, including standing, walking, and responding to emergencies
• Ability to use verbal and written communication effectively to interact with residents, staff, and supervisors Work Schedule & Availability Requirements Contractors are required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts per pay period (16 hours), or four (4) shifts per month, subject to shift availability.
