Direct Support Professional (D.S.P) Community Coaching /Community Engagement Employment Type:
Full-Time / Part-Time ⸻ ~Position Summary~ The Direct Support Professional (D.S.P) provides individualized support and assistance to adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities (DD/ID) participating in waiver services. The D.S.P promotes independence, community inclusion, and personal growth through respectful, person-centered care in accordance with all Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (D.B.H.D.S) and Medicaid Waiver requirements. ⸻ Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct support and supervision to individuals in Community Coaching, Community Engagement, and other DD/ID waiver programs. Assist individuals with achieving their personal goals and outcomes. Support participation in community activities such as volunteering, employment, recreation, and social opportunities.  Encourage & Assist with the development of daily living skills, communication, social skills, and self-advocacy. Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals served at all times. Accurately document daily progress notes, data collection, and incident reports per D.B.H.D.S and agency policy. Communicate effectively with families, guardians, and interdisciplinary team members. Transport individuals safely to and from community locations and program activities. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to agency policies and theD.B.H.D.S
Human Rights regulations. ⸻ Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid Virginia driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Successful completion of background checks and required training.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Compassionate, dependable, and committed to person-centered supports.
