Full Job Description Position Summary :
Support Staff provide direct care, supervision, and skill-building services to individuals receiving residential and community-based supports through BreakThrough Inc. Individuals served are voluntarily placed through the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) program and may range in age up to 21. Participants may have varying developmental levels and frequently present with dual diagnoses, including developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavioral health or mental health conditions. Support Staff are responsible for implementing person-centered supports that promote safety, dignity, independence, and community inclusion while complying with applicable regulatory requirements including
DCYF WAC 110-145
(Group Care licensing), DDA program requirements, and the Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Integrated Settings Rule. Support Staff assist individuals in developing and maintaining skills necessary for daily living, community participation, and increased independence, consistent with each individual's Individual Service Plan (ISP), treatment plan, or behavior support plan. Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Support Support Staff assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal care needs when appropriate to the individual's developmental level, abilities, and service plan. Assistance may include both verbal prompting and physical assistance when necessary. ADL supports may include, but are not limited to: Bathing and showering support Toileting assistance and hygiene care Grooming and personal hygiene (brushing teeth, hair care, etc.) Dressing and clothing selection Health and hygiene monitoring Assistance with medication routines when authorized All personal care assistance must be provided in a manner that protects the individual's dignity, privacy, and rights, and must follow all agency policies and regulatory requirements. Independent Living and Skill Development Support Staff actively teach, model, and reinforce independent living skills to support individuals in gaining greater independence and self-sufficiency in accordance with their individualized service goals. Examples of skill development and teaching supports include, but are not limited to: Daily Living and Self-Care Skills Personal hygiene routines and self-care skills Dressing appropriately for weather and activities Laundry and clothing care Organization of personal belongings and living spaces Understanding personal health and hygiene practices Household and Independent Living Skills Meal planning and basic nutrition Food preparation and kitchen safety Grocery shopping and budgeting skills Cleaning and maintaining living spaces Following household routines and responsibilities Safe use of household appliances Community Participation and Social Skills Practicing appropriate communication and social interaction Participation in recreational and community activities Navigating community environments safely Learning to access community resources and services Transportation awareness and safety skills Life Skills and Personal Development Time management and daily scheduling Decision-making and problem-solving skills Emotional regulation and coping strategies Following directions and completing tasks Building personal responsibility and independence Person-Centered and Integrated Supports Support Staff must provide services in a manner consistent with person-centered planning and the HCBS Integrated Settings Rule, ensuring individuals have opportunities for: Meaningful choice and autonomy in daily activities Participation in community life and integrated settings Development of independence and life skills Respect for personal rights, privacy, and dignity Professional Expectations Support Staff are expected to: Maintain appropriate supervision and safety in accordance with

supervision and care requirements Follow all DDA service guidelines and agency policies Implement treatment plans, behavior support plans, and individual service plans as directed Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct Document services and observations in accordance with program and regulatory requirements Work collaboratively with supervisors, treatment providers, and team members to support client goals and safety
Job Type:
This position is a relief (on-call) role designed to provide staffing support across BreakThrough Inc. programs as needed. Relief staff are required to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per month (if available) in order to remain active in the position. Failure to meet this minimum requirement or consistently declining available shifts may result in removal from the active relief roster. This position is intended to supplement regularly scheduled staff and does not guarantee a set number of hours per week or month beyond the minimum participation requirement. Newly hired relief staff must complete all required onboarding and training within their first month of employment. Required training includes all courses mandated by DCYF and DDA regulations, as well as agency-specific training. Once all required trainings are completed and the employee has been fully cleared through the DCYF background check process, they will complete shadow shifts at each program location to become familiar with the individuals served, program routines, and expectations, then be eligible to begin accepting shifts. Relief staff typically work on an on-call basis, meaning they may be contacted when shifts become available due to scheduling needs, staff absences, or additional program support. During the interview and onboarding process, candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their general availability with Human Resources to help determine whether the position aligns with both the employee's availability and the operational needs of BreakThrough Inc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All grave staff must remain awake while on shift. Grave staff will complete the overnight checklist, completing all tasks as required. Communicate with other Support Staff concerning clients, progress notes, problems, or other information which occurred during their shift. Document client's daily routines, activities, medications administered, struggles and successes. Attend mandatory staff/program meetings when available. Maintain confidentiality of all information, both client and agency. All staff must sign a confidentiality statement. The person must display mature behavior, demonstrate the capability to be an appropriate role model to the individuals and have the ability to make required independent judgement. Behavior management with youth of all development levels; verbal to non-verbal, independent to co-dependent.
REQUIREMENTS
A Support Staff must: Be over the age of 21 Have a high school diploma, or high school or equivalency course of study (GED/HSEC) Be able to pass a State and Federal Background check Have 6 months of experience working directly with youth/children/vulnerable populations Have the skill and ability to work successfully with the special needs of youth in care. Have a Valid State Issued Driver's License (copy on file). Current Vehicle Insurance (copy on file). DMV Employment Driving Record (copy on file). The ability to lift 50 lbs. The ability to maneuver up and down stairs in a timely manner. Have reliable transportation. An employee will be provided the following training: 16 hours of preservice training and orientation, and a total of 30 hours in-service training annually. Training shall include a combination of orientation, instruction and on the job training. CPR and First Aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens training. Hepatitis B series or Declination. Food Handler's Card (copy on file). Read and understand Agency Policies and Programmatic Policies & Procedures. Watched the Mandated Reporter Video. Take required De-escalation training (RIGHT
RESPONSE
) and any other required training that Administration/DCYF requires.
