Job Description

S&H Training Center is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and engaging Community Instructor to assist with the Washington State Home Care Aide (HCA) 75-hour training program in Vancouver, WA. This position will primarily focus on teaching the Core Basic portion of the HCA program and providing support and coverage for our full-time Vancouver instructor. The instructor will also assist with conducting and proctoring Washington State HCA written and skills exams. We are looking for someone who enjoys teaching and mentoring adults, can create a welcoming classroom environment, and is passionate about helping future caregivers succeed in healthcare careers. This is a great opportunity for someone with caregiving or healthcare experience who is interested in education, training, and workforce development. Responsibilities Teach portions of the Washington State HCA Core Basic curriculum Support students through classroom instruction, discussion, and skills preparation Help maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment Conduct and proctor Washington State HCA written and skills exams Assist with classroom setup, attendance, documentation, and compliance requirements Work collaboratively with instructors and office staff Help students feel confident and prepared for caregiving roles Minimum Requirements Applicants must: Be at least 21 years of age Have at least 1 year of experience within the last 5 years working in a long term care setting (i.e. Home care, Assisted living, Adult family homes, Nursing homes, Supported living, Other long-term care settings) Active Washington State healthcare credential: HCA or CNA/NAC Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching, mentoring, training, or leading adults Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable speaking in front of groups and supporting adult learners Basic computer and technology skills Instructor Certification Information A DSHS Adult Education certificate is required for certain instructor responsibilities; however, eligible applicants who do not currently have this certification may obtain the required training through S&H Training Center after hire. Applicants without prior teaching experience may still qualify depending on work history and transferable experience. Why Join S&H Training Center?
