A Medical Laboratory Technician helps with the performance of laboratory tests in toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology laboratories, which provide information for medical patient diagnosis and treatment. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment, makes observations, and calculates and records results; receives, types, tests, and records blood bank inventories.

PRN What You'll Do Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under supervision by the section chief technologist. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care. Requirements Associate Degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution; or, have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) High school diploma or equivalent Possesses problem solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job Demonstrates good time management and organizational skills Preferred Requirements One year acute care experience MT/MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), CLS (NCA), HEW or equivalent certification #LI-DNI Locally owned and nationally recognized, Freeman Health System is a not-for-profit health system serving communities across Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas through a network of hospitals, physician clinics, outpatient locations, and specialty services.
