High Complexity Urine Toxicology Position Overview We are seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician - High Complexity to perform urine toxicology testing within a physician-owned clinical laboratory. The technician will be responsible for routine specimen processing and testing, instrument operation, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, and accurate documentation under the laboratory's established

quality system. This position reports to the on-site Laboratory Manager and works under the technical oversight of the laboratory's remote Technical Supervisor and Laboratory Director. Previous clinical laboratory or toxicology experience is preferred but not required. We welcome candidates who meet the minimum CLIA educational qualifications and are interested in receiving structured, hands-on training in clinical urine toxicology. Responsibilities Perform high-complexity urine toxicology testing Prepare patient specimens, calibrators, controls, and reagents Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation Perform and document daily quality control Review QC and calibration results prior to patient testing Assist with instrument and assay troubleshooting Follow established SOPs and testing procedures Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records Participate in proficiency testing and competency assessments Promptly escalate technical or quality concerns to the Laboratory Manager, Technical Supervisor, or Laboratory Director Maintain appropriate laboratory safety and confidentiality standards Minimum Education / CLIA Qualifications Applicant must qualify as High Complexity Testing Personnel under 42 CFR §493.1489 .

Acceptable educational pathways include:

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; OR Bachelor's in an appropriate chemical, biological, clinical/medical laboratory science or medical technology; OR At least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution , including: 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; OR 24 semester hours of science coursework including at least: 6 semester hours chemistry 6 semester hours biology 12 additional semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination Candidates qualifying through the 60-semester-hour pathway must also meet applicable CLIA laboratory training requirements, including documented training in the specialty in which high-complexity testing will be performed. Official transcripts will be required to verify CLIA personnel qualifications. Experience Prior laboratory experience is preferred, but not required. Experience in any of the following is beneficial: Urine drug testing Clinical toxicology

LC-MS/MS

Immunoassay drug screening Specimen preparation or extraction Laboratory QC Instrument troubleshooting Candidates who meet the CLIA educational requirements but have limited or no previous clinical toxicology experience are encouraged to apply. The laboratory is willing to provide structured training to qualified candidates who demonstrate strong attention to detail, scientific aptitude, dependability, and a willingness to learn. Work Environment This position works within a physician-owned clinical laboratory performing patient urine toxicology testing. The laboratory operates under CLIA requirements and applicable COLA accreditation standards. This position may be an excellent opportunity for a recent science or laboratory graduate who meets CLIA educational requirements and wants to develop specialized experience in clinical toxicology and high-complexity laboratory testing. We are looking for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to recognize and escalate technical issues when necessary.

Pay:

$19.50 - $22.50 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
