A Day in the Life The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures under the direction of the Laboratory Manager. This position will assist in maintaining a clean laboratory space while supporting other field and lab personnel to ensure quality data is collected and reported. The compensation range for this role is $21hr to $24hr To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
- Preparation of samples for analysis
- Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment
- Performing gravimetric, titrimetric, and other analyses
- Determining the volume of samples
- Cleaning of laboratory glassware
- Preparing laboratory equipment kits for use in field tests
- Assist field testing teams in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation
- Work with field crews on-site with sample preparation and recovery
- Maintaining clean laboratory areas
- Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis
- Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
- Practice safety methods and procedures and report all potential dangers and hazards Your Expertise and Skills These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
- High School diploma is acceptable where experience and related skills can be demonstrated
- Must have prior experience working in a laboratory setting (academic lab counts)
