A Research Laboratory Technician performs routine tests on samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for research for medical and other scientific purposes. Works under the supervision of a laboratory technologist in a laboratory or healthcare facility.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on flow cytometry experience, with strong preference for experience supporting cell sorting, cytometer startup/shutdown, instrument monitoring, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting. This person should be comfortable working in a shared-resource or service-based lab environment where they are supporting scientists directly, resolving instrument issues, and helping users complete experiments successfully.
Job Details:
Responsible for operating and maintaining flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters, including instrument setup, quality control, monitoring runs, and routine maintenance. Designs and optimizes multiparameter panels for conventional and full-spectrum cytometry. Provides user training and support in a high-throughput shared lab environment while ensuring compliance with BSL-2+ safety standards. Key Responsibilities The worker will support flow cytometry operations, including: Cell sorting support Starting up and shutting down cytometers Monitoring cell sorts during operation Instrument cleaning and routine maintenance Monthly maintenance involving fluidics/PBS/saline systems Supporting analyzer-only cytometers Troubleshooting clogs or instrument issues Helping users complete experiments successfully Proactively checking in with scientists and lab users The role includes manual/physical work, including handling cytometer waste up to approximately 25 pounds. Salary and Other Compensation:
