In this energetic and rewarding position, you will assist in conducting sleep studies, monitor patients during overnight assessments, and support physicians in evaluating sleep-related conditions. Your expertise will contribute to improving patients' quality of life through accurate diagnostics and compassionate care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop specialized skills in sleep medicine within a collaborative environment dedicated to excellence. Responsibilities Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and collecting relevant medical history. Set up and calibrate sleep monitoring equipment, including sensors for brain activity, eye movement, muscle activity, heart rate, and breathing patterns. Monitor patients throughout overnight sleep assessments, recording vital signs and observing sleep behaviors to identify abnormalities. Assist with diagnostic evaluations by analyzing data collected during sleep studies and documenting findings accurately. Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret results and support the development of treatment plans for sleep disorders. Maintain detailed records of patient information, test procedures, and equipment calibration logs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Provide education to patients about sleep hygiene and post-study instructions to promote ongoing health and wellness. Skills Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques relevant to sleep medicine and patient monitoring. In-depth understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to sleep and respiratory functions. Experience performing physical examinations and assessing vital signs such as heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respiratory effort. Familiarity with sleep center operations, including setup of diagnostic equipment and patient care protocols. Ability to interpret diagnostic data from polysomnography (sleep study) equipment effectively. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures clearly and providing compassionate patient support. Knowledge of medical safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory compliance related to sleep diagnostics.
