Job Description:
Handles and resolves customer inquiries and complaints regarding laboratory results and test requirements. Maintains a safe and clean working environment, adhering to laboratory, hospital, and regulatory policies. Other duties as assigned. Generates and reports results for accurate diagnoses and prognoses influencing patient care. Utilizes critical thinking and independent judgment to correlate and interpret data. Manages laboratory computer systems. Ensures accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results. Compiles and reviews reports to ensure timely collection, processing, and testing of samples. Resolves unusual test orders by following up with caregivers, reference labs, or pathology. Participates in new associate and student training and orientation. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots instruments, documenting activities. Completes required quality control and maintenance, recognizing variances and documenting corrective actions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
N/A Education:
• Bachelor's in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution OR Bachelor's degree equivalency with 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or 24 semester hours of science courses that include: 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology; and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination; AND have a laboratory training program that includes: completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES or the CAAHEP (this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above); or at least three months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs testing OR Successful completion of at least a 50-week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); or qualified and served as high complexity testing personnel on or before April 24, 1995 in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have done so continuously since December 28, 2024. Pay Range:
