  • 2:30pm Job Summary The Specimen Technician I (SPT I) provides essential support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
This role requires strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production laboratory environment. The SPT I plays a critical role in ensuring specimen quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction while adapting to frequent operational and regulatory changes.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general specimen processing functions including: A-Station operations Pre-sort activities Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to laboratory areas Imaging and microfilming Centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens Accurately enter data with a requirement of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour Learn and identify specimen types related to tests ordered by clients Understand and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements that may change daily Maintain accuracy, confidence, and efficiency while meeting departmental productivity and quality standards Work effectively in a biohazard environment while following all safety procedures Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with laboratory standards Communicate effectively with all levels of staff Demonstrate flexibility to support changing workloads, customer demands, and operational needs Education High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
