Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team at our fast-paced urgent care office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing, and shipping patient specimens. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory protocols, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work independently and a commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens (blood, urine, swabs, etc.) following proper protocols.
- Perform routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis, glucose testing, and basic hematology.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Record and report results to providers promptly and accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with infection control standards in the laboratory.
- Prepare and ship specimens to reference laboratories when necessary.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information and test results in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Maintain inventory and order laboratory supplies as needed.
- Comply with HIPAA and OSHA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and workplace safety.
- Perform allergy testing and accurately record the results.
