If you possess the minimum requirements for the position, we invite you to apply to be part of our team. Our company has several locations throughout Georgia and South Florida, and we are looking to fill a full-time position in our Garden City, Georgia location. The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for assisting our team conducting laboratory analysis of water, waste and soil using approved EPA methods. This person must be able to operate analytical equipment in an effective and proficient manner while maintaining laboratory equipment as needed and tracking laboratory chemicals or supplies. The laboratory handles projects requiring multiple skill sets and combinations of analytical expertise and capabilities. Therefore, this person must be able to work productively in a high-volume, short-turnaround environment. This person must have a good driving record and should be flexible enough to work in the field collecting samples from customers if needed. The shift is Monday - Fridays during the day; occasional weekends as required for business. Primary Responsibilities:
Sample collection, sample pick-up, and sample kit delivery as needed. Preparation of sample kits for sample collection. Packing samples in coolers for shipping. Assist in answering phones, receiving samples, and sample log-in. Assist analysts in conducting daily activities: weighing, recording readings, washing glassware, preparing solutions, etc. Provide general support in the Inorganic Analyses of samples. Perform sample preparations, extractions, and analyses for BOD. Follow appropriate methodologies, SOP's and QA/QC protocols as require. Prepare chemical solutions for products or processes (following provided formulas). Interpret samples and data. Solid knowledge and strict adherence to all safety procedures. Document activities and report results in a concise and accurate manner. Adherence to deadlines Handle simple routine problems without supervision. Maintain, clean, and organize laboratory instruments, glassware, and chemical supplies. Some administrative or other duties, as assigned by the Laboratory Technical Director. Work Experience 1 + years of experience in Environmental Testing Laboratory is preferred, but not required. If you are listing lab experience gained in college, please indicate the courses or projects in which you gained experience. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required, minimum associate's degree or credit courses in General Science, Biology, or Chemistry are required. Experience in wastewater analyses, including BOD and COD is preferred, but not essential. Good housekeeping and ability to keep work area organized and clean. Good verbal and written skills/ communication. Positive attitude. Good driving record. Physical Demands Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management, and clients. Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment; Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment; Must be able to distinguish differences in color and shade; Able to sit, and/or stand for 100% of an 8-hour day while performing repetitive motion actions.
