Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides safe operation of polysomnographic recording equipment used to record and evaluate sleep/wake pathology. Applies and removes electrodes and other equipment used in conjunction with polysomnography including EEG, EKG, EMG, EOG, airflow, CO2 measurement and oximetry in clinic patients. Cleans and disinfects equipment placed directly on patients. Monitors sleep recording, patient position in bed, as well as recognition of sleep pathology. Calibrates polysomnographic equipment. Reviews patient medical charts, confirms physician orders, and requested protocol to be performed. Interviews patients to assess current sleep patterns, medication allergies/conditions, current medications, and any alcohol or caffeine intake the day of the test. Recognizes and records clinical and physiological events. Applies and titrate CPAP/BiPAP based on physician's orders and established protocols. Educates patients on use of CPAP/BiPAP. Scores polysomnography data. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MIINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma or equivalent. One year related experience. A current Healthcare BLS certification is required. Must obtain a Registered Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist Registry from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist within 18 - 24 months of employment. If registration is not achieved by end of 24 month period, employee may be subject to termination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(Medium): 20-50 lbs.; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs., 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs., 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste, Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks
