Temporary Job Summary Performs independent research in the field of study. Provides technical support for research activities. Responsible for supervising undergraduate students engaged in research. This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding. Employment thereafter will be conditional based on the continued availability of funding. Responsibilities 1.
- Engages in research activity: design and perform experiments, record and analyze data 2.
- Assists in the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts 3.
- Supervises undergraduate research projects 4.
- Assists with laboratory maintenance and organization Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the area of study Required Experience One (1) year relevant experience doing independent research in area of study Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Experience training and supervising undergraduate students Experience in writing and preparing scientific manuscripts Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of scientific principles, laboratory safety practices, laboratory terminology, equipment, materials, and procedures and laboratory methods relating to area of research SKILLS Responsible and professional Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (e.g., Microsoft Office) Strong attention to detail and follow up skills Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette Equal Employment Opportunity Kennesaw State University is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
