3D Printing & Orthotic Lab Technician Hawaii Shoulder & Orthopedic Institute Honolulu, HI Job Details Part-time $50 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications Manufacturing equipment maintenance 3D modeling software Laboratory equipment maintenance Hardware calibration 3D printers CAD design (engineering design task) 3D printing Engineering Technology Additive manufacturing implementation Associate's degree Hand tools Drafting Full Job Description Job Overview The On-Site Laboratory Technician will oversee physical production operations, post-processing execution, and hardware optimization within our dedicated in-office 3D manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage active print queues and monitor automated print cycles across multiple production modalities.
- Operate and maintain stereolithography (SLA) hardware (Formlabs Form 4B Medical Bundle), managing vertical clearance spaces and liquid photopolymer resins.
- Operate and maintain fused deposition modeling (FDM) hardware (UltiMaker S7 Dual-Extrusion Printer), including exchanging heavy-duty 0.8mm or 1.0mm hardened steel print cores.
- Execute strict chemical post-processing protocols for SLA resin models: remove build plates safely, run automated 10-minute isopropyl alcohol (IPA) chemical wash cycles, and complete 15-minute automated ultraviolet (UV) thermal curing cycles.
- Execute post-processing for FDM filament models: remove components from the build surface and utilize specialized mechanical hand tools to cleanly detach temporary structural support pillars.
- Sanitize all completed plastic shells and catalog items into designated clinical assembly cabinets.
- Manage local material logistics: log material lot numbers, monitor biocompatible
ISO 10993
liquid resin and filament stocks, track chemical inventory (Liquid Resins, Isopropyl Alcohol), and maintain hardware logs to comply withCMS DMEPOS
Quality Standards.- Troubleshoot mechanical print failures, execute print bed leveling, and manage extrusion nozzle replacements.
- Maintain safety protocols in a divided lab footprint, separating the filament dust "Dry Zone" from the liquid chemical "Wet Zone" while managing dedicated HEPA/Activated Carbon air purification systems.
Key Technical & Educational Requirements:
- Associate degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Digital Manufacturing, Mechanical Drafting, or a related clinical technical field.
Software Competency:
Hands-on experience with 3D mesh slicing tools (PreForm, Cura, or Simplify3D) and medical or engineering CAD suites.
