The role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA (onsite role) and is a part-time position (20 hours per week, hourly). Where You'll Make a Difference Perform standardized laboratory tests supporting quality assurance, research, and development activities related to grain processing applications Maintain accurate and complete records of assay results, observations, and basic data analysis Interpret findings and communicate results clearly to laboratory personnel and project stakeholders Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment Ensure assay quality and reliability by following established laboratory methods, protocols, and safety procedures Keep the laboratory organized, clean, and compliant with safety and operational standards Apply laboratory protocols consistently while supporting continuous improvement in grain processing analyses What Makes You the Right Fit Graduating or having graduated with an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry, food technology, or a related scientific field At least 6 months of experience working in a laboratory environment Basic understanding of laboratory practices, documentation, and safety requirements Ability to follow established procedures with accuracy and consistency Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity Ability to communicate findings clearly, both verbally and in writing Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint How Would You Stand Out? Previous experience supporting grain processing or food application laboratories Familiarity with basic data analysis tools; experience with JMP is a plus Ability to learn new analytical techniques quickly and adapt to changing priorities Why Choose Us?
