Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will perform a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your expertise in laboratory techniques, specimen collection, and data entry will be essential in ensuring high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in laboratory procedures, excellent patient service skills, and a strong understanding of medical terminology and physiology. Responsibilities Collect, process, and handle specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Perform laboratory tests accurately using established procedures and techniques, including blood sampling and blood typing. Maintain detailed records of test results, ensuring proper documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and transportation. Assist with patient care activities such as taking vital signs and providing compassionate support during specimen collection. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment during all laboratory procedures. Support laboratory quality assurance initiatives by adhering to standard operating procedures and participating in audits. Handle heavy lifting safely when managing equipment or supplies within the laboratory setting. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely communication of test results for clinical decision-making. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices relevant to diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Requirements Proven experience in medical laboratory work, including specimen collection, processing, and testing. Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and safety standards. Certification or training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Familiarity with hospital environments, clinical laboratories, and EMR/EHR systems. Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping. Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques such as venipuncture and blood sampling. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology relevant to laboratory testing. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently within the lab setting. Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients. Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
