Job Description

Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description The Lab Technician plays a critical role in preparing and compounding flavor samples, managing inventory, and supporting seamless collaboration across production, quality control, research and development, and shipping teams. This position helps ensure timely delivery of high-quality flavor samples while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment. Responsibilities Prepare and compound flavor samples for internal teams and external customers according to established formulas and procedures. Operate laboratory equipment such as spray dryers, homogenizers, mixers, and extractors to produce flavor samples and related products. Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, intermediates, and finished samples, and proactively resolve backorders. Collaborate closely with Flavorists to refine formulas, support development projects, and ensure samples meet desired specifications. Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compliance with good laboratory practices. Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace, following all safety protocols and laboratory standards. Monitor raw material stock levels and coordinate replenishment activities with Procurement to avoid shortages and delays. Document batch records thoroughly and accurately, ensuring formula security and proper traceability of all work performed. Coordinate with quality, R D, production, and other departments to support timely completion of approximately 60 batches per shift in a fast-paced back order lab environment. Essential Skills 1-3 years of compounding laboratory experience, preferably in flavors or food applications. Experience performing wet chemistry and working in a laboratory setting. Strong time management and multitasking skills, especially in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and organizational abilities to coordinate effectively with multiple teams. Solid math and reasoning skills to support accurate measurements, calculations, and documentation. Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to good laboratory practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in a relevant scientific discipline preferred; however, practical experience is valued and can be considered over formal education. Experience in chemistry or laboratory science. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality, R D, production, and shipping. Strong attention to detail and reliability in documenting batch records and maintaining formula security. Work Environment This is a first-shift role with a typical Monday-Friday schedule, starting around 7:00-7:30 a.m. The position is based in a fast-paced laboratory that coordinates closely with every team in the facility while working with quality, R D, and all departments. The facility is modern, beautiful, and up to date, providing a professional and well-equipped laboratory environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Glenview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
