Job Title:
Lab Technician Job Description The Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that food safety and quality standards are consistently met. This position involves performing necessary testing on both raw materials and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards as set by certifications, customer requirements, and state and federal regulations. Responsibilities Perform routine chemical analysis on raw materials and finished products, including testing for pH, moisture, salt, and fat content. Ensure compliance with quality requirements in relation to certifications and regulatory standards. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Conduct data entry and maintain records as required by lab SOPs. Assist with product sampling, inspection, and testing to support the hold and release program. Provide feedback to managers and production teams regarding quality-related discrepancies or violations. Retrieve documentation during audits and assist during facility visits. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field) OR previous experience in food manufacturing. Basic laboratory skills, including pH testing, moisture, salt, and fat analysis. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of quality control practices in food science and manufacturing. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with titration and other laboratory techniques. Strong communication skills for providing feedback to teams. Work Environment The position is based in a food manufacturing plant, primarily within a quality laboratory environment. The role requires occasional visits to the production floor to collect samples. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with the possibility of overtime based on production needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hoffman Estates, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
