Travel Medical Lab Technician Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in laboratory procedures and techniques, with experience in clinical laboratory work, specimen collection, and patient care. Responsibilities of Medical Lab Technician:
Shift:
12- hours Nights Shift details: 5:00pm - 5:30am) Work 6 days in a 7-day period, off 7 days 36 hours/week. (3
  • 12) 13-week contract Conduct a variety of laboratory tests following established protocols to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Collect, process, and handle specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples with strict adherence to aseptic techniques. Perform venipuncture and blood sampling procedures accurately while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Maintain detailed records of test results, data entry into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and ensure data integrity. Support patient care activities by taking vital signs and providing compassionate patient service during specimen collection. Follow safety guidelines including basic life support (BLS) and CPR procedures to respond effectively in emergency situations. Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned according to safety standards. Assist with specimen handling, storage, and transportation while maintaining proper labeling and documentation. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to interpret test results within the context of physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and clinical requirements. Adhere to hospital policies on heavy lifting, infection control, and confidentiality to uphold a safe working environment. Experience Proven medical laboratory work experience with a solid understanding of laboratory procedures and techniques. Hands-on experience performing phlebotomy, venipuncture, and specimen collection across diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Familiarity with hospital environments and clinical laboratories is highly desirable. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and result documentation. Demonstrated ability to perform blood sampling accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Experience in handling specimens according to medical terminology guidelines and laboratory protocols. Prior exposure to physiology, anatomy, or related medical fields enhances diagnostic accuracy. Ability to lift heavy objects safely when required for specimen transport or equipment handling.
