Responsibilities Conduct raw material testing to verify compliance with established quality standards and specifications. Perform a wide range of analytical tests independently and accurately by following established test procedures and laboratory methods. Operate and interpret results from laboratory instruments, including Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, pH meters, moisture balances, protein analysis equipment, viscosity meters, and other relevant analytical tools. Carry out wet chemistry techniques such as titrations and other quantitative and qualitative analyses as required. Maintain complete, accurate, and legible test records in accordance with company policies and record-keeping procedures. Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines, including Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and laboratory safety protocols. Assist in the development, refinement, and validation of new testing methods and procedures to support evolving product and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and other departments to address quality issues, investigate nonconformances, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Participate in routine calibration, verification, and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure reliable and accurate test results. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the QC department by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in testing and documentation. Contribute to a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment by following housekeeping and safety practices. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field. Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in food, ingredients, or related manufacturing industries. Strong foundation in quality control, chemistry, biology, microbiology, and laboratory analysis. Hands-on experience with wet chemistry techniques, including titration and related analytical methods. Ability to operate and interpret results from analytical instruments such as NIR spectroscopy, pH meters, moisture analyzers/balances, protein analysis equipment, and viscosity measurement instruments. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise procedures and standardized test methods. Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills with a focus on accuracy and traceability. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with GMP, GLP, and laboratory safety protocols and the ability to consistently apply them in daily work. Ability and willingness to work 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and to work weekends as required by the schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous quality control or quality assurance experience in a food, ingredient, or process manufacturing setting is a strong plus. Experience with QC documentation systems and data integrity practices in a regulated environment. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot basic instrument issues and recognize atypical test results. Strong communication skills to effectively share test results and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Proactive mindset with an interest in continuous improvement and method optimization.
