Job Title:
Lab TechnicianJob Description A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Lab Technician to support laboratory testing and quality assurance activities. This position is responsible for evaluating raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, enjoy hands-on laboratory work, and thrive in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities + Perform laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products. + Conduct physical and chemical testing including pH, viscosity, solids content, density, color, and other product-specific analyses. + Accurately document, analyze, and communicate test results. + Support manufacturing operations by monitoring product quality and process consistency. + Investigate out-of-specification results and assist with corrective actions. + Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment. + Follow established standard operating procedures and quality system requirements. + Prepare samples and maintain laboratory inventory as needed. + Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and quality records. + Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and quality-related projects. + Support internal audits, customer audits, and compliance activities. + Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality policies. Essential Skills + pH Analysis + Viscosity Testing + Solids and Moisture Analysis + Density and Specific Gravity Testing + Color Evaluation + Data Collection and Trending + Instrument Calibration + Quality Documentation + Root Cause Investigation + Laboratory Safety and Compliance Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or scientific discipline preferred. + 1+ year of experience in a laboratory environment. Educational laboratory experience is acceptable if the candidate has a 2-4 year scientific degree. + Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and quality systems. + Familiarity with GMP, ISO, or regulated manufacturing standards. + Experience using laboratory instrumentation and measurement equipment. + Understanding of statistical process control and continuous improvement methodologies. Work Environment The position is based in a manufacturing and laboratory setting with routine interaction with production personnel and quality teams. The role requires standing for extended periods and handling laboratory samples and testing equipment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. The standard shift is Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday overtime as needed, typically from 8am to 4pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
