Job Summary The Quality Lab Technician performs laboratory testing of asphalt, asphalt emulsions, and related construction materials to verify conformance with specifications and project requirements. The role supports production terminals by providing timely, accurate test results, maintaining equipment and records, and collaborating with manufacturing plants to drive quality and safety. Responsibilities Testing
- Perform timely receipt of samples from our Clients production facilities and run standardized tests in accordance to Aashto test specifications and report to client facilities. Education High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical schooling preferred. Relevant experience in construction materials testing may substitute for formal education. Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in following standardized test methods.
- Sound judgment and resourcefulness in troubleshooting and reporting.
- Effective communication with lab, plant, paving crews, inspectors, and management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet production-driven timelines.
- Team-oriented mindset and positive attitude in fast-paced environments.
- Frequent standing and walking on concrete floors; repetitive lifting and carrying of samples and equipment up to 50 lbs multiple times per day.
- Work in a climate-controlled lab and outdoors at plants and job sites on uneven surfaces; exposure to heat, cold, dust, odors, and hot materials.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends during peak paving season; occasional travel between plants and projects.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles as required.
Preferred Experience Experience with testing liquid asphalt products to Aashto M-320 and M-322 requirements. Experience in testing asphalt emulsions to Aashto test standards.
