Job Description

Lab Assistant - Environmental Full-Time Summary for Lab Assistant (Environmental): Responsible for laboratory-based tasks, which may include testing, measuring, analyzing, interpreting, and recording results in environmental, chemical, physical and life sciences. Also provides all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. This role requires moving around the mill in various operating and outdoor areas. Some adverse conditions such as working over water, at heights, and during weather events may be necessary. Key responsibilities of the Technical Service Lab Assistant (Environmental) position include, but are not limited to, the following: Prepare and test samples of gases, soils, water, industrial wastewater, and other materials to determine pollutant levels or identify sources of contamination. Conduct basic laboratory procedures such as titrations, pH measurements, weighing, and temperature measurements of various process chemicals and intermediates. Carries out routine tasks/analysis accurately and with consistent application of standardized protocols involving laboratory preparation and instrument operations and data recording. Performs laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations. Operates and maintains standard laboratory equipment and/or instrumentation. Responsible for ensuring required supplies for testing are well-stocked and resourced. Uses computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of results. Collect, record, report, and summarize the data from test results. Prepare and maintain necessary reports and records as required. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a trainable position! Experience is not required. However, any experience with collecting data and samples or as a lab assistant is helpful!
