Job Description

Laboratory Accessioner, Nights Physicians Group Laboratories is a new generation of laboratory testing and patient care. We provide Clinical laboratory testing solutions and service providers across the entire state of Louisiana and Texas. The job position of Laboratory Accessioner is an integral part of PGL's mission of revolutionizing laboratory testing and provider partnerships that ensure all patients receive the timely care they deserve. As a Laboratory Accessioner at Physician Group Laboratories, you will be working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment where you will be relied on for your expertise, professionalism, and collaboration. Responsibilities Receives specimens from Phlebotomists and Couriers. Prepares specimens and requisitions as needed for processing/testing. Correctly enters patient demographic and testing information into the laboratory information system. Ensures that the patient's full name, date/time of collection, DOB, and phlebotomist's initials, are included on the primary tube. Label specimens using labels produced by the laboratory information system. Evaluate specimen integrity and notify appropriate personnel of unacceptable specimens. Deliver specimens to the proper laboratory department for analysis. Assists with other data entry and clerical functions as assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School Graduate or GED Skills and Competencies Skills and Competencies should include pertinent knowledge, behaviors, attitudes, and even skills that lead to the ability to do the specific job successfully or efficiently. Communication Skills Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. Data Entry Documentation Review Knowledge of Medical Terminology Preferred Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software Must consistently demonstrate high level of attention to detail and focus.
