Optician/Lab Technician Dr. David Fisher, Jr & Associates Lafayette, LA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Optical laboratory experience Retail optometry experience Customer service Patient service High school diploma or GED Front desk Full Job Description Optician Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens enhancements based on prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs. Accurately interpret and process eyeglass prescriptions written by the optometrist. Measure pupillary distance (PD), segment heights, and other optical measurements. Educate patients on lens options, coatings, materials, and warranty programs. Verify insurance eligibility and explain vision benefits to patients. Submit and track eyewear orders through optical vendors. Adjust, repair, and fit eyewear to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction. Troubleshoot eyewear issues and provide effective solutions. Maintain optical displays and inventory of frames and optical products. Follow up with patients regarding eyewear orders and satisfaction. Optical Lab Technician Responsibilities Operate and maintain optical laboratory equipment. Inspect lenses and completed eyewear for quality, accuracy, and compliance with prescriptions. Edge, mount, and assemble lenses into frames when applicable. Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and replacements of eyewear components. Maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment. Ensure all laboratory work meets practice quality standards. Adhere to safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines for equipment operation. Keep laboratory work areas clean, organized, and compliant with office standards. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with scheduling and patient flow when needed. Support front office operations during high-volume periods. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Participate in team meetings and ongoing training programs.
Education:
High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
