Petrochemical Laboratory Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Petrochemical Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of chemical and physical tests in accordance with ASTM methods or accepted industry standards. The role involves testing petrochemicals, distillations, flashpoints, petroleum, and density measurements. The ideal candidate will assist in equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, while also managing quality records and lab inventories. Responsibilities Conduct chemical and physical tests on petrochemicals using ASTM methods. Assist with the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab equipment. Clean glassware and test equipment to ensure optimal operation. Prepare reagents as needed for various tests. Record data accurately on data sheets and report results to the LIMS system. Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories. Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. Participate in cross-training opportunities as required. Essential Skills Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a life science with Chemistry coursework. At least 1 year of laboratory experience, ideally with ASTM methods. Experience in quality control and analytical chemistry. Proficiency in wet chemistry and instrumentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in third-party or petrochemical testing. Ability to work shift hours and stand for 8-hour shifts. Work Environment The position involves shift work on the main floor in a laboratory setting. The technician will work in the main lab testing various types of crude oil, refined gases, and fuels using ASTM methods. The role requires standing for extended periods and adhering to safety and quality standards in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Rose, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
