Petrochemical Laboratory Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Petrochemical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of chemical and physical tests in the petrochemical field, working extensively with distillations, flashpoints, petroleum, and density measurements. This role involves adhering to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods or accepted industry standards. Responsibilities Conduct numerous chemical and physical tests on petrochemicals. Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Clean glassware and test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Prepare reagents as needed for various testing procedures. Record data accurately on appropriate data sheets and report it to the LIMS system. Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories. Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements. Participate in cross-training to expand skills and knowledge. Essential Skills Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a life science degree with Chemistry coursework. 1+ year of laboratory experience, ideally with ASTM methods. Strong experience in Chemistry, Quality Control, and Analytical Chemistry. Ability to work shift work and stand for 8-hour shifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in third-party or Petrochemical testing. Experience in Quality Assurance, Wet Chemistry, and Instrumentation. Work Environment The role involves shift work in a main laboratory setting. The technician will test various types of crude oil, refined gases, and refined fuels using ASTM methods. The working environment requires adherence to safety and quality standards and involves standing for extended periods. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Rose, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
