Instruction & Curriculum- Deliver instruction aligned to the MA DESE Chapter 74 Medical Assisting Frameworks, including: Medical terminology Anatomy and physiology Clinical procedures and patient care Administrative medical office procedures Electronic health records (EHR) HIPAA and patient confidentiality OSHA and infection control standards
- Professionalism and employability skills (Strands 1-6)
- Develop curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, and lesson plans aligned with MA DESE requirements.
- Integrate literacy, math, and science applications into clinical instruction.
- Utilize formative and summative assessments aligned to MA DESE Standards I-A and I-B (Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment).
- Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (e.g., Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), OSHA 10 Healthcare, CPR/AED). Clinical Lab & Safety Management
- Maintain a safe and compliant clinical laboratory environment consistent with healthcare industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date safety plans consistent with Chapter 74 requirements.
- Oversee proper storage and use of medical equipment and supplies.
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification. Student Development
- Provide equitable and inclusive instruction to all students, including students with disabilities, English learners, and historically underserved populations.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs.
- Promote ethical patient care and professionalism aligned with healthcare standards.
- Support student participation in SkillsUSA and leadership development opportunities.
- Supervise and evaluate students in cooperative education placements in accordance with Chapter 74 regulations (if applicable). Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings with healthcare and industry partners.
- Collaborate with academic teachers to ensure MassCore alignment and integration of science standards.
- Maintain required DESE documentation and Chapter 74 compliance materials.
- Engage in professional development aligned with MA DESE Standards II (Teaching All Students) and IV (Professional Culture).
- Develop partnerships with healthcare providers, clinics, hospitals, and community agencies to expand work-based learning opportunities.
