Histology Lab AssistantJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Histology Lab Assistant to join our team. The role involves handling clinical lab specimens, preparing them for testing, and ensuring the efficient functioning of laboratory operations. Responsibilities Pull samples out of storage or walk-in fridges and bring them to technicians for retesting. Scan samples into the tracking system and manage data entry of specimen and patient information. Work with paraffin wax blocks and biopsies. Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance. Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues. Replenish test bench supplies as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Complete record logs and perform other administrative duties as requested. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards. Essential Skills Experience in a medical or laboratory setting (academic experience is acceptable). High school diploma or GED. Ability to stand for the majority of the shift. Comfortable handling human samples. Additional Skills & Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Willingness to work weekends for overtime if needed. Work Environment You will work alongside another lab assistant within a team of 21 in the histology lab. The work schedule is from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime on weekends. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and you will be supported by excellent trainers and leadership. This role offers the chance to transition to a Technologist position with a significant raise if performance standards are met. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Holyoke, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
