Job Description

At Merrimack Health , we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $31.34 (Min) - $41.49 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth. As the Senior MLS , you will perform manual and automated analysis and specialized procedures on various blood and body fluids. Interprets results and quality control studies to ensure reliable result reporting. Processes clinical samples and performs as a phlebotomist as needed, promoting a team effort for peak efficiency. Promotes a positive friendly image to patients, visitors and other hospital personnel. Assists supervisor with tasks related to the general operation of an assigned section.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The training and competency checklist is complete. Keep the basket and drawing areas neat and clean. Picks up after yourself and disinfects daily and as needed. Requests help when incoming and existing work cannot be done in time to meet TAT's No more than one recorded incident of misidentification / mislabeling per year. No more than 2 incidents per quarter for wrong sample size, wrong tube/container. No more than once per year when stats are unnecessarily delayed in transport to the lab. Introduce yourself and state the purpose of the visit to the patient. Handles patients gently and keeps patients as comfortable as possible. Informs nurses or responsible caregivers when unable to get compliance from the patient. Minimizes the use of butterflies where absolutely necessary, as they carry greater risk to the phlebotomist because of potential needlestick. Adequate supplies are available and restocked.
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE
One or more of the following is required. Training or experience acceptable to the laboratory director that meets accreditation requirements will be considered. A Bachelor's degree with required science courses, clinical rotation and registry eligible.
