Lab Assistant (Crab Bleeder)
Location:

Shift:
Day Shift | 5:30 AM - Finish (Typically 4:00-4:30 PM)
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday Pay Rate:
$20.80 per hour
Contract:
5 months contract, possible conversion to direct hire

We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistants to support the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) production operation in Salisbury, MD. This seasonal role supports both horseshoe crab blood collection and laboratory processing activities. Employees will receive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), aseptic processing, and disinfecting techniques. Key Responsibilities Horseshoe Crab Blood Collection Assist with horseshoe crab blood collection following approved SOPs. Set up and prepare collection areas. Clean and prepare horseshoe crabs for blood collection. Aseptically collect blood from horseshoe crabs. Clean and disinfect collection areas at the end of each workday. Laboratory Processing Assist with laboratory processing activities, including: Centrifuging Pipetting Sonication Solution preparation Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and work areas. Aseptic Handling & Documentation Aseptically handle filled and unfilled collection bottles inside biological safety cabinets (hoods). Complete required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner according to SOPs. General Support Duties Clean and maintain production equipment. Tag horseshoe crabs with U.S. Fish & Wildlife identification tags. Experience & Skills Requirements Education High School Diploma required. Professional Experience 1-2 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred. Technical & Soft Skills Ability to follow detailed written procedures. Strong organizational and time management skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Team-oriented with the ability to work closely with others. Basic math and computer skills. Working Conditions Work is performed in both laboratory environments and horseshoe crab holding areas. Overtime may be required. Requires standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Daily cleaning and disinfecting using strong disinfectant solutions is required. Individuals with sensitivities or allergies to cleaning or disinfecting chemicals may not be suitable for this position. #TMCA
