Laboratory Assistant Position Summary The Laboratory Assistant will coordinate and perform tasks and activities in the Core Laboratory under the supervision of a medical technologist, technical coordinator and/or supervisor. The Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of routine sample handling, supply, inventory and administrative tasks in accordance with written policies and procedures. The laboratory assistant communicates information to the appropriate authorized personnel. Laboratory Assistant Position Requirements Education High school diploma. Some college level biology/chemistry classes preferred. Experience Entry Level Laboratory Assistant Work Schedule The Laboratory is staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day. Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or may have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening and night shifts. Both options may include weekends. Rotational coverage of holidays. Expected to work overtime and/or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload. Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
