You will have the opportunity to work across multiple departments and be exposed to various laboratory processes.
Responsibilities:
Key Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Independently develop, assemble, and maintain test equipment, instrumentation, and SOP's. Schedule and apply coatings for exposure testing while working with the Exposure lab hours. Perform all applicable corporate and laboratory quality control procedures and policies. Using SDS's to work with various chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases. Prepare all records (electronic data, folders, and forms) in a timely, thorough, and neat manner. Use the laboratory information systems and sample tracking procedures, as applicable. Evaluate and lead development of laboratory processes. Work with Account Managers and external clients to complete witness testing. Work with other Labs within the Ann Arbor Labs as needed. Maintain a clean work area and independently complete weekly safety walkthroughs. Suggest, test, document, and implement process improvements. Cross-train in other Exposures or Preparations group sections to alleviate the workload when high sample volumes are experienced. Adhere to the safety and health policies and procedures. Travel for witness testing procedures as needed. Training a backup for the Coatings lab and maintaining that persons skill. Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Basic laboratory skills. Ability to document data in lab worksheets. Ability to use wide range of laboratory equipment. Perform laboratory procedures with minimal supervision. Ability to follow quality requirements. Ability to work independently. Demonstrated time management and communication skills. Minimum 2-year degree, 4-year preferred. At least 2 years professional experience preferred. Experience applying industrial coatings is strongly preferred (required for external candidates)
Additional Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to wear a full or half facepiece respirator and pass a respirator medical evaluation. Occasional odd hours are required to accommodate product application or cure requirements. Up to 10% travel for witness testing.
