A Laboratory Technician performs routine tests on samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes. Works under the supervision of a medical laboratory technologist in a laboratory or healthcare facility.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Technician to support research and development initiatives involving new product development and existing product improvements. This role works closely with chemists, technicians, engineers, customers, and suppliers to develop, test, qualify, and scale adhesive formulations. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on laboratory work, possesses strong analytical skills, and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Development & Testing Assist in developing new adhesive products that meet customer specifications and business objectives. Prepare adhesive and prepolymer batches for formulation development and evaluation. Conduct laboratory testing on uncured and cured adhesive systems, elastomers, and structural adhesives. Collect, analyze, and accurately document experimental data. Evaluate new raw materials and formulations for performance and potential applications. Support product qualification and scale-up activities with cross-functional teams. Laboratory Operations Prepare and maintain laboratory materials, substrates, and testing equipment. Perform routine testing, including: Viscosity and rheology testing Sag resistance evaluations Mechanical property testing (lap shear, dispense force, quick knife, and related methods) Apply adhesives using manual and automated dispensing equipment. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot assigned laboratory equipment. Learn and utilize analytical instruments such as FTIR, DSC, DMA, and TGA. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate laboratory records using Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems. Document experimental procedures, observations, and results. Conduct laboratory safety audits and inspections. Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and quality standards. Inventory & Laboratory Maintenance Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate ordering of supplies and materials. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Properly dispose of laboratory materials and restock supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
Required Associate degree in a STEM-related field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics). Previous laboratory experience in manufacturing, industrial, R&D, or product development environments. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. Experience entering, organizing, and analyzing data in Excel, including averages, sums, and standard deviations. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related STEM field. Experience working with adhesives, polymers, sealants, or related materials. Experience using Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) or laboratory data management systems. Exposure to analytical testing methods including FTIR, DSC, DMA, or TGA.
