Job Description

CURRENT HOLLAND HOSPITAL
EMPLOYEES- Please apply through Find Jobs from your Workday employee account. Works under the direction of the Manager of Technical Services conducting routine and complex tests for use in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of disease. Maintains skills and knowledge in the appropriate use and performance of clinical diagnostic tests. Follows approved policies and procedures for safe and efficient work practices, results reporting and documentation, and works closely with other health care professionals in the communication and interpretation of diagnostic findings. Develops and maintains a strong understanding of the laboratory information system. This is a 2nd shift (3-11 pm) position during the week and includes a 3rd shift every 3rd weekend/holiday rotation.

Education Requirements:
-Bachelors in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science - Medical Technologist Certification ASCP (C-MT) OR Med Lab Scientist Certification ASCP (C-MLS)
PROCESS AND PROCEDURES
Demonstrates a high quality understanding of overall laboratory processes and procedures with special attention to the policies and procedures for test performance and result interpretation, preventive maintenance, quality control, troubleshooting and supply and reagent acquisition and use Demonstrates the ability to perform job functions independently.
WORKFLOW
Organizes workload so procedures are performed and released within established acceptable turnaround times. Coordinates workload to optimize efficiency. Demonstrates flexibility to coordinate a simultaneous series of tests with complete accuracy and precision.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Demonstrates ability to analyze results of testing Quality Control and determine the accuracy of these results Demonstrates ability to analyze results of testing procedures and determine the accuracy of these results. Is capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and corrects the problem or uses available resources to ensure that the problem is corrected . Clearly documents problems discovered and any follow up action taken Complies with continuing education requirements. Assists the Technical Consultant with quality related functions.
USE OF RESOURCES
Works collaboratively with all laboratory staff in the delivery of quality clinical laboratory services . Serves as a resource for the education and training of new laboratory staff. Serves as a key resource of clinical laboratory diagnostic information for both internal and external customers of the laboratory Actively develops and promotes safe work practices throughout the laboratory. Serves as a resource for accreditation preparations. Validates and reports results from reference laboratories. Supports co-workers.
DOCUMENTATION
Follows specified policies and procedures for the maintenance of accurate records in various aspects of the laboratory Understands the most commonly used functions of the laboratory information system and uses all software in accordance with established policies and procedures Occasionally, creates or updates policies and/or procedures in the laboratory.
