Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Test Technician to support testing, validation, and continuous improvement of advanced liquid‑cooling systems used in high‑performance data center and industrial environments. This role is heavily hands-on and focuses on executing thermal/fluid testing, operating specialized lab equipment, and supporting engineering with accurate, high-quality data.
Key Responsibilities:
Liquid ‑ Cooling Test Execution Set up and operate liquid‑cooling test loops, including pumps, heat‑exchange components, valves, sensors, filtration systems, and fluid handling equipment. Execute test procedures developed by engineering, ensuring correct configuration, instrumentation placement, flow control, and environmental conditions. Monitor system behavior during testing, including thermal performance, pressure stability, flow characteristics, and leak detection. Collect and record test measurements with high accuracy using calibrated temperature, pressure, and flow instrumentation. Instrumentation & Data Quality Perform routine calibration checks on lab instrumentation and maintain traceability records. Validate sensor accuracy prior to testing and document any deviations or corrections. Ensure that data captured during testing meets precision and repeatability requirements. Fluid Handling & System Maintenance Prepare coolant mixtures, manage fluid transfers, and maintain cleanliness and quality of liquids used in testing. Perform system flushing, debubbling, filtering, and contamination control tasks. Conduct regular maintenance on pumps, hoses, valves, fittings, and measurement hardware to ensure consistent performance. Mechanical Setup & Lab Configuration Assemble, adjust, and reconfigure test fixtures, piping arrangements, brackets, and test hardware as needed for various test campaigns. Assist engineers in installing prototype or production components into test setups. Support safe operation of pressurized systems, chilled loops, rotating equipment, and electrical control panels. Documentation & Reporting Create accurate test logs, configuration notes, and results summaries for engineering review. Update standard operating procedures, work instructions, and lab checklists. Communicate observations, anomalies, or equipment issues clearly and promptly. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical/Controls, and Systems Engineering teams to support product validation and development cycles. Suggest improvements to test methods, lab workflows, or equipment setup to enhance safety, efficiency, or data quality. Support external partners, contractors, or vendors during lab equipment installations or modifications.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Required:
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, HVAC Technology, or similar field; or equivalent hands‑on experience. 1-3 years of experience in a test lab, R&D environment, or fluid‑handling system setting. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on pumps, piping, fittings, valves, and fluid systems. Familiarity with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, temperature sensors, flowmeters, and related DAQ equipment. Understanding of basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics principles. Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
Preferred:
Experience with thermal or liquid‑cooling systems in data center, electronics cooling, or HVAC applications. Experience with DAQ platforms (Lab
VIEW, PLC
‑based systems, or similar). Knowledge of glycol‑based coolants, fluid cleanliness, filtration, and conditioning. Basic electrical safety knowledge related to control panels and instrumentation wiring.
Key Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt to evolving test requirements and shifting priorities. Strong safety mindset and ownership of lab hygiene and organization. Hands-on approach with a passion for workforce development.
