Follow all departmental SOPs, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
Clean and maintain animal housing areas on a daily basis.
Provide daily animal enrichment, including exercise, toys, and social housing opportunities.
Disinfect animal housing areas weekly, including walls, floors, and feed bins.
Feed animals according to established departmental procedures.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the laboratory and animal care areas.
Receive and organize departmental deliveries and supplies.
Monitor animal health and immediately communicate any concerns or changes in condition to Veterinary Staff.
Accurately document animal care activities, observations, and treatments using Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Assist Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians with animal care activities as assigned.
Report facility maintenance issues and operational concerns to management.
Support animal care activities on weekends and holidays as required.
Quality Systems ResponsibilitiesBuild quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance with established quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Adhere to all documentation, training, and operational quality expectations.
QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GED.Comfortable working with animals in a laboratory or research environment.
Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate records.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to animal welfare.
PreferredPrevious experience working with animals, including animal care, veterinary, agricultural, kennel, farm, shelter, or research environments.
Experience working with large animals is a plus.
Industry experience is preferred but not required.
Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential is not required.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
Ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in animal housing and laboratory environments.
Additional InformationScrubs and work shoes will be provided.
Pre-employment medical screening requirements must be completed prior to the employee's first day of work.

Varies based on experiencePosition SummaryThe Animal Care Assistant is responsible for providing daily husbandry and care for large preclinical animals in a research laboratory environment. This role supports the health, welfare, and well-being of swine, canine, and ovine species by maintaining clean housing environments, providing enrichment, monitoring animal health, and following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).This position is ideal for individuals who are comfortable working closely with animals and are committed to maintaining high standards of animal care, safety, and documentation.ScheduleDay Shift:
