Job Description

The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results. a) Each individual performs only those moderate/high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities. b) Each individual performing moderate/high complexity testing must: 1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. 2. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. 3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. 4. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. 5. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory manager, general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or laboratory director. 6. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. 7. Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential and follows HIPAA guidelines. 8. Must possess good communication skills & be able to work closely w/others. 9. Other job duties as assigned.Daily Responsibilities:
- Receive, label, and analyze test samples.
- Design and execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations and interpret findings.
- Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods.
- Organize and store chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Complete initial and ongoing instrument validations and continued proficiency testing per
CLIA/COLA/CAP.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and laboratory manual.
- Ability to diagnose and solve routine instrument issues up to and including LIMS management.
- Oversee and maintain the local LIMS system to company and regulatory standards.
- Other daily job duties as assigned
Testing Personnel Requirements:
Each individual performing high complexity testing at Crescent City Surgical Center Diagnostics must —- Be ASCP certified with a valid Louisiana State license
- Possess a current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located.
- Associate's/Bachelor's degree in required field or laboratory science
- Have working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, database systems, and generally strong computer skills
- Be a great communicator
- Have superb multitasking skills, especially working with multiple instruments
- Have intellectual speed - ability to learn quickly
