We are looking for a team-oriented individual to provide great customer service to our patients! This individual should show great attention to detail and a passion for healthcare. We are currently expanding our Practice by adding additional providers and several more procedure rooms! We are looking to bring on additional team members to help accommodate for the increased number of patients we will be seeing.JOB TITLE
Histology Lab AssistantJOB SUMMARY
Seeking assistance in our histology lab. This individual would be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the laboratory with regard to histology specimen processing. The position would process and prepare patient tissue according to department procedures using a wide range of depth of technical and specialized knowledge. Participates in laboratory operations as needed. Supports continuous improvement of laboratory services to ensure high quality and timely pathology for quality diagnosis. This individual should hold an HT orHTL ASCP
certification.JOB DUTIES
Retrieves and receives specimens from designated areas and transports specimen to histology lab. Performs accessioning duties thoroughly and accurately enter specimen information in the necessary computer programs. Performs processing and grossing functions on specimens as directed and supervised by pathologist and lab manager once educational and training requirements have been met. Cuts processed tissue to prepare slide for analysis by Pathologist. Performs any maintenance and cleaning duties as directed by the supervisor. Supports continuous improvement of laboratory services to ensure high quality and timely pathology for quality diagnosis. Maintains knowledge of and adheres to established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Participates in organizational and departmental goals and performance improvement activities. Participates in personal and professional growth by attending in-services/educational workshops and scheduled departmental meetings. Maintains patient confidentiality. Keeps regular and punctual attendance. Organizes and prioritizes work to complete responsibilities according to plan within established time frames. Performs other tasks and special assignments as directed by the supervisor.EXPERIENCE
Experience in a medical lab environment preferred.EDUCATION
Must qualify for high-complexity testing according to CLIA regulations as follows: An earned associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, Or; Education equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. Must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 semester hours of chemistry , 6 semester hours of biology , and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination . IN ADDITION, must have laboratory training including either completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLA, or other organization approved by HHS (note that this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above), OR at least 3 months documented laboratory training in grossing surgical pathology specimens.BENEFITS
